Naija News understands that the 21-year-old has made it clear that Stamford Bridge is his preferred destination, a position he has maintained since July.
Discussions between Chelsea and Manchester United over a transfer fee are expected to begin shortly.
Garnacho’s arrival would further strengthen Chelsea’s attacking options under new manager Enzo Maresca, with the club also in pursuit of Dutch international Xavi Simons.
Should both deals be completed, the Blues could boast one of the most exciting young attacking line-ups in Europe for the 2025/26 season.
Speculation over Garnacho’s future intensified after Manchester United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May, when manager Rúben Amorim was reported to have told the winger to “find somewhere else to play.”
The remark reportedly widened an existing rift between player and manager.
Although Garnacho joined United’s post-season tour of Asia, he appeared distant and disengaged, and his absence from the club’s recent pre-season trip to the United States has fueled further rumours of a move.
Speaking during United’s stop in Chicago, Amorim appeared to acknowledge the winger’s desire for a fresh start.
“You can see he is talented, he’s a really talented boy. But sometimes things don’t work out,” the Portuguese coach said.
“You cannot always explain why, but I have the feeling it’s clear Garnacho wants something different, with different leadership. Sometimes you adapt well to a coach and build a connection, other times a new challenge is what a player is looking for. It’s natural in football.”
With personal terms now agreed, all eyes turn to negotiations between Chelsea and Manchester United, a process that could define one of the summer’s biggest transfers.
