That is according to The Times, who claim that the player is open to the move.
Talks over a loan are ongoing, and Everton are not thought to be put off by the prospect of paying the majority of his £300,000-a-week wages.

Newcastle have missed out on a number of transfer targets this summer but they are closing in on a deal to sign AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.
Thiaw is flying in to Newcastle this evening to seal a move to St James’ Park for around £34.3million.
Newcastle have agreed a fee of £30m plus £4.3m in add-ons for the 24-year-old after beating off interest from Bayern Munich and Juventus.
Thiaw will have his medical on Monday morning.
Former West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku is back in the Premier League after signing for Sunderland.
The left-back had been a free agent after leaving Turkish club Besiktas and has signed a two-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
Masuaku could come up against his former club West Ham on the opening weekend of the season next Saturday, when the Hammers travel to the Stadium of Light.
“I’m excited to be here and I’m also really happy to be back in the Premier League,” said Masuaku. “It’s clear that Sunderland is a top club and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
Liverpool are said to be showing “serious interest” in Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
The Reds continue to be linked with Crystal Palace captain Mark Guehi as they target a new centre-back, but FootballEspana say they are now considering a move for Araujo.
Araujo has also been linked with Chelsea, who are targeting a new centre-back after losing Levi Colwill to a serious knee injury.

But Veiga has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Wissa, who has been linked with Newcastle and has been trying to force through an exit from Brentford, is valued at £50million after scoring 19 Premier League goals last season.
Manchester United are accelerating plans to offload Rasmus Hojlund after sealing a deal for Benjamin Sesko.
United have opened talks with AC Milan over a loan deal for Hojlund, with the Italian giants ready to pay a £5.1million loan fee in a deal that will include an option to buy the striker next summer for £39m.
Hojlund has been told he can leave United and was an unused substitute in their friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday, raising further doubts about his future at Old Trafford.
AC Milan believe they can help Hojlund rediscover his best form after a difficult two years at United.
