KAPOLEI (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man has died after the boat he was on capsized off West Oahu Saturday morning.
It happened at around 9 a.m. in the area of Hanua Street.
The area was under a high surf advisory at the time with strong breaking waves and strong currents present.
According to Emergency Medical Services, the boat capsized, sending the 66-year-old man into the ocean where he went into cardiac arrest and became unresponsive.
Paramedics administered advanced life support and took him to the emergency room in critical condition.
He was later pronounced dead, police said.
Police classified the case as an unattended death and said there were no signs of foul play.
