Ekiti state – The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti state, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has passed away at the age of 82.
Oba Adeyemi joined his ancestors at 82 on Friday, August 8, 2025.
As reported by The Nation, the monarch’s death was announced in a statement issued by his family on Saturday, August 9.

Alara was celebrated for his remarkable leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people.

According to the statement, the family said Alara’s reign was distinguished by initiatives in conflict resolution, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development, all of which strengthened communal bonds.
The family disclosed that the monarch’s funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Oba Adeyemi, who was born on December 4, 1942, life defined by service in multiple capacities.
The traditional ruler began his professional career as a teacher and later rose through the ranks as a senior civil servant, and
He also served as the Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo local government area.
The monarch ascended the throne of his forefathers in 2009.
The late Oba Adeyemi was the Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU), where he championed projects aimed at improving educational standards and expanding access for local students.
