Okpebholo announced the development in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
According to the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect.
The statement reads, “It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Prof. Victor Adetimirin Olawale as the Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho.
“This appointment takes immediate effect.
“PROFILE OF PROF. VICTOR ADETIMIRIN OLAWALE
“Prof. Victor Adetimirin Olawale is a distinguished academic and seasoned administrator with decades of experience in teaching, research, and university leadership. A Professor of Agronomy, he obtained his B.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of Ibadan, and subsequently earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics from the same institution.
“He has served in various capacities within Nigeria’s university system, including Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, and Director of Academic Planning, contributing significantly to curriculum development, research innovations, and institutional reforms. Prof. Olawale is widely published in reputable local and international journals and has supervised numerous postgraduate students to successful completion.
“His wealth of experience, dedication to academic excellence, and visionary leadership are expected to further elevate Edo University, Iyamho, as a centre of learning and research excellence in Nigeria and beyond.”
