Naija News reports that Goodluck Ihemnacho, administrator of the Ahoada East LGA of Rivers State, announced his resignation in a letter dated June 20, 2025, addressed to the state’s sole administrator.
Ihemnacho, in the letter, said his resignation was informed by his desire to return to the private sector.
The resignation letter partly read, “I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the administrator, Ahoada East LGA.
“My sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada East for finding me worthy to serve as Ahaoda East LGA from 11th day of April 2025 to 20th day of July 2025.”
According to Punch, Ihemnacho resigned to pave the way for him to contest the forthcoming LG elections in the state.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) has petitioned U.S. President Donald Trump, calling for a visa ban on Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.).
The group, which operates from the United States, made the appeal in a letter addressed directly to Trump at the White House.
The document was signed by the Executive Director of NADECO-USA, Lloyd Ukwu, who described the move as necessary to “defend democracy and hold complicit actors accountable.”
The letter reads, “The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO USA) wishes to bring to your attention a pressing matter of grave concern regarding the erosion of democratic principles in Nigeria.”
