CNN abruptly cut to a breaking news segment as US President Donald Trump commented on the Russian invasion of Ukraine from a New Jersey airstrip.
Donning his signature white MAGA cap and a navy blazer, Trump spoke to the media with the caption "Trump speaks ahead of return to White House" flashing on the screen.
When asked for an update on the situation, Trump expressed his discontent: "Yeah, I'll give you an update, I'm not happy with what Putin's doing, he's killing a lot of people, and I don't know what the hell happened to Putin.
"I've known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he's sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don't like it at all, okay? We're in the middle of talking and he's shooting rockets into Kyiv and other cities, I don't like it at all."
However, Trump's temper flared when a reporter pressed him, asking, "Mr President, what are you going to do about it?"
Trump snapped back, clearly irritated: "I'm very surprised. Very surprised. We'll see what I'm gonna do."
He continued, targeting the reporter with disdain: "What am I going to tell you? You're the fake news, aren't you? You're totally fake. And the other question, I don't like what Putin is doing, not even a little bit, he's killing people, and something happened to this guy and I don't like it."
Twitter erupted with viewer reactions after a heated exchange on X. One user tweeted their dismay: "A leader who calls out a reporter more aggressively than a dictator says everything about Trump's priorities. He's more offended by CNN than by war crimes.", reports the Express.
Another individual vented: "BREAKING: Trump explodes at a CNN reporter after his promise to 'end the war' in Ukraine is exposed as bulls***. Putin isn't negotiating peace – he's now ESCALATING. Trump's response? 'You're fake news.' No answers. Just anger. Trump is mad because Putin humiliated him. Period."
This social media frenzy comes in the wake of Trump's gaffe on Fox News, where he bizarrely railed against foreign students attending Harvard, slipping up with "A lot of the people need remedial rath," and hastily amending it to "math".
He further ranted: "Did you see that? Where these students can't add two and two, and they go to Harvard. They want remedial math, and they're gonna teach remedial math at Harvard. Wait a minute.
"So why would they get in? Why would somebody that can't add or has very basic skills, how do they get into Harvard? Why are they there?".
