Northern Nigerian Women Empowered with Hausa AI Videos – News Central TV

The Kaduna State Government, in partnership with Google and Data Science Nigeria, launched the AI for Beginners Learning Video Series on April 30.
The program, delivered in Hausa, aims to make AI education more inclusive across Northern Nigeria, especially for women, ensuring that technology is culturally relevant and accessible.
The drive addresses barriers to technological education and careers while emphasising the importance of AI skills in driving innovation and prosperity. It lays the foundation for a thriving tech hub that will contribute to economic growth and technological advancement.
Governor Uba Sani emphasized his government’s commitment to digital transformation and economic empowerment, focusing on providing women with AI skills to drive innovation and prosperity. He highlighted AI’s pivotal role in shaping the world. He stated that by offering AI training, especially to women, Kaduna enables an environment for a more prosperous and innovative Northern Nigeria, positioning the state as a leading tech hub.
Northern Nigeria faces challenges such as socio-cultural complexities and language barriers that hinder tech education and career opportunities.
A 2022 UNICEF report on Education Opportunities for Out-of-School Children reveals that one-third of Nigerian children, 66% in the Northeast and Northwest, are not enrolled in school, and over half are girls. This emphasizes the urgent need for women in Northern Nigeria to develop their tech skills, which is crucial for digital progress.
The idea employs culturally relevant visuals and animations to simplify digital concepts, enhancing women’s involvement in the tech sector. The educational series is accessible on platforms like YouTube and in schools across Kaduna State.
It also marks a significant step in equipping women in Northern Nigeria with vital digital skills, driving economic growth and technological innovation.
