Former executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Usman Yusuf, will be arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today.
Yusuf was by operatives of the EFCC at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday on charges of alleged N4 billion fraud, among other allegations.
Since becoming the head of the NHIA in 206, his tenure has been plagued by controversies and several allegations, which are currently being investigated.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the veracity of the claims that he inflated the NHIA’s ICT budget from N4.975 billion to N8.7 billion and that he approved payments beyond his approval limit.
He is also being investigated for awarding contracts to a company called Lubekh Nigeria Limited, where his nephew is a director.
Other allegations against him include financial mismanagement and abuse of office, using his position for personal gains, approving contracts without due process and awarding contracts to firms that lacked the competence to execute projects.
